Safe Place for Youth

Safe Place for Youth’s mission is to inspire, nurture, and empower the resilient human spirit of homeless youth by providing immediate and lasting solutions, one young person at a time.

Our program prioritizes low barriers for entry, harm-reduction, a trauma-informed approach, and the provision of a safe, supportive environment.

Basic human needs are addressed through a “safe haven” atmosphere of hope and concern. SPY provides three core areas of service provision: Street Outreach, Drop-in Center, and Case Management.

One of our clients talks about what SPY means to him...

  • SPY is one of the few Drop-In Centers that is pet friendly. We have a dog park for the animals outside, and provide pet food as well as occasional pet clinics through a local veterinarian. It is a little known fact that many homeless youth keep pets for security and companionship.

  • MIRROR, MIRROR

Mirror, Mirror is a community art project that pairs the professional artist community of Los Angeles and the homeless youth of Venice to work in collaboration to create each other's portraits. The first Mirror, Mirror partnered with Venice's Safe Place for Youth. http://mirrormirrorartproject.tumblr.com/
